labor day weekend: ventura, california

last month we went to venture, ca for labor day weekend. we haven't spent much time on the coast of california, but we immediately fell in love with this place. we biked to the oyster truck, spent time shopping in carpinteria (hello porch and heritage... i am obsessed with you both!), and hung out at the awesome beach-side park. we were staying with friends, but we also snuck away each morning to walk to coffee and hang out on the beach (having a baby means early mornings, but i'm always thankful for family time). we enjoyed dinners out on the patio each night, i had my first experience shopping at a goop store, and we enjoyed sooo many oysters. it was such a wonderful vacation.

we spent time with some of our very best friends that we used to live around the corner from in Chicago. they now live in california and we live in utah, but we still manage to see each other 1-2 times a year.
