austin, texas

last week, caleb was out of town so i ran off to austin to visit my parents and avoid solo parenting for three days!

i flew by myself with august for the second time. it was a little easier than the first time i did it (as is everything with parenting), but definitely not any less work. i booked a more expensive ticket so that i could choose exactly where i wanted to sit (isle, please and thank you!). i did not want to end up in the middle seat. i came prepared with toys. i nursed on take off. and i had a pouch for august to eat on the decent. normally i avoid pouches, but on an airplane when you're by yourself all my rules get tossed. :)

the week was full of mid-day work outs, sipping prosecco, and laying by the pool in the hot texas sun. i'm grateful for my parents who are wonderful grandparents and also know how to spoil me when i'm in town.

now i ask you: what are your favorite baby pool floating devices?? are there any cute ones? everything i have seen has been very plastic-y and annoyingly bright. we have a pool and will be doing a lot of floating this summer!

i can't believe august has flown 12 times in the last 8 months. i love adventuring around with him!

mom travel tip: for my birthday this year, one of the gifts i received was this belt bag (or fanny pack, if we're being honest with ourselves on what it's really called). i purchased this knowing that i'd like to use it during all of our travels and OHMYGOSH this was sooo helpful. i hadn't worn it yet as a fanny pack while traveling, but this was amazing and all mothers, fathers, or literally anyone who travels with a baby should use this. with a backpack, i was constantly taking it on and off or asking caleb to dig in the bag to pull out my phone, ID, credit card, etc... and now it's all right there on my hip. truly fantastic!
